The overhead to run a Church these day is very high. The major factor is the Church payroll and maintenance. The only source of income for today’s modern churches is the tithe. The easy way out for the Church to get fund is through the tithe. The church extort the people to give 10% of their gross income monthly. The most famous reading the church like to pitch for more money is in the book of Malachi particularly Malachi 3 : 8 – 12

You cannot understand to whom Malachi is speaking if you start to read Malachi from chapter 3 verse 8. The secret is in Malachi chapter 2. The first verse in chapter two is very striking. “And now this admonition is for you, O priests” Malachi is warning the priests in chapter two and three. Originally, people tithe to feed the priest, the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in the towns.

MALACHI 3 : 8 – 12

8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How do we rob you?’ ”In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.

In verse 10 is says “bring the whole tithe…” which literally means that the priest (Levites) keep some of the tithing for them self. There are many places in the bible where it is mentioned that the Levites have no allotment or inheritance of their own. If the preist (Levites) bring the whole tithes to the store house, God further say to the priest (Levites) in verse 10 “Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” This portion in Malachi have nothing to do with your tithing and blessing. The fact is, according to Deuteronomy 14 : 28-29, the tithe that Malachi is talking about is to be done by the people of God once in every three years. Mathematically, if we wish to tithe annually, it should be only 3.33% . Anything more is day time robbery.

DEUTERONOMY 14 : 28 – 29

28 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, 29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

It is the priest’s duty to ensure that the poor, the aliens, the fatherless and the widows are feed with the people’s tithing. Along the way, the priests miss use the people’s tithe. They take everything for themselves and fail to feed the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in the towns. That is why Malachi is saying that the priests are “robbing God!”

If the tithing for the Levites (priests) is three years once, what are we suppose to do annually ? According to bible, we are suppose to go shopping with it.

DEUTERONOMY 14 : 22 – 27

22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

The Bible further says that tithe is of agricultural product.

LEVITICUS 27 : 30

A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

It is interesting to note that in the time of Malachi, there were silver equivalent to money. However, the tithe specifically requested by the Lord was of agricultural product. The Church can’t preach that ancient tithe refers to agricultural product and it is not practical to tithe agricultural product is modern days. The status quo is, in the ancient time when money (silver) was available, the Lord commanded that tithe must be of agricultural products. Even if we were to convert the agricultural products to money(silver), as quoted above (Deuteronomy 14 : 25 – 26), we are suppose to go shopping out of the tithing together with our family. This is purely economics.

One of the best thing to do to improve economic slowdown is to encourage spending. Those days, we don’t have sophisticated indicators such as the Dow Jones or the NASDAQ to tell us the market situation. God will choose as a dwelling place for him and the people of God will go there and spend their money to stimulate the economy. They will use the silver to buy whatever they like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything they wish. They will basically wine and dine with their family.

Christian are said to be living in grace of Christ in the New Testament. The New Testament does not compel anyone to tithe but rather invite Christians to give generously to need of others

1 Corinthian 16 : 1 – 2

1Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatians churches to do. 2On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. Take note that the verse says ” a sum of money” and nothing about 10%

You can also refer to 1Cor 16:1-2; 2Cor 8:1-15; 9:1-15; Ga 6:6-8; Jas 2:13-17; 1Jn 3:16-19. These verses tells you that Christians giving should be voluntary, spontaneous and freely given, not from a sense of obligation nor with an intent to merit blessings.

There are four thing you must keep in mind when giving to church. Give willingly from the heart, don’t give grudgingly, don;t give out of compulsion and give cheerfully. (2Cor 8:12; 9:5, 7)

Some common portion of the New Testament that the church always misquote:-

Hebrew 7 : 1 – 10. read

This caption is not telling us that New Testament Christians should tithe. The Apostle Paul is merely describing the superiority of Melchizedek over Abraham.

Galatians 3 : 17 – 18

17What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.

18For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

Preacher like to connect Galations 3 : 17 – 18 to Hebrew 7 and conclude that New Testament Christians should continue tithing as Abraham deed to Melchizedek. What Galatians 3 : 17 – 18 is very straight forward and should be read together with Genesis 3 : 1 – 3

Genesis 3 : 1 – 3

1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

2 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” To misquote the greatest covenant of God to his people mentioned in Galatians 3 : 17 – 18 to mere tithing is paganism of money.

Churches also teach that Melchizedek is actually Christ and when he (Melchizedek) accepted Abraham’s tithe, Christians living in the grace of Christ in the New Testament should also tithe. This is totally inaccurate. Jesus is from the descendant of David and according to the Law of Moses, the tithes should be given to the Levites. If Melchizedek is Christ and God seriously wants you to tithe to his Son Jesus, then God would have given the “Priesthood” status to the tribe of David.

Christians living under the grace of Christ in New Testaments have abundant many important practices of the Old Testaments such a passover, circumcision, observation of the Sabbath day. They even eat food that is strictly forbidden in the book of Deuteronomy. The greed for money makes them to carry forward the teaching on tithes in the Old Testament while claiming to be living in the grace of Christ. want to know more

Finally friends, the word “floodgate” is found 6 times in the Bible. check Every time when the Lord says that he will bless his people, He likes to use the word floodgate. Literally it means rain. People of the ancient time depend on agriculture products and live stocks to live. Rain is important for agriculture and to rare live stocks. When the Lord opens the floodgate wide, it will rain. As a result, the yield of agricultural product will increase so much that there will be no rooms to store them. Today, the church teach us that when the Lord opens his floodgate wide, money will fall from the sky in various forms and shapes if we tithe. What a utter rubbish! People who listen to such a lie is ignorant of the true teaching of the Bible. Amen.

Worship is an integral part of a Church Service. There are many variety of service devised by the various sect of Christianity to suite the need of the congregation. A typical time of praise and worship is done by singing charismatic or evangelistic songs accompanied by music, prayer of adoration, prayer of supplication and submission. To enhance the time of praise and worship, different kind of techniques are used to enrich the session. Very often the techniques used are highly questionable.

The basic of all praise and worship is the song. The Bible contain numerous verses on songs and music. The very first song was mentioned in the book of Exodus 15:1 [ The Song of Moses and Miriam ] Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD : “I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.” Then come the issue of new song - Psalm 33:3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. I hate to “copy paste”. I have to do it because this subject has to supported by the Word of God, not mine. The whole Bible contains only nine entries on “new song” The following question is what is a “new” song ? Is it rock, pop, Jess, hip hop, heavy metal, voodoo or what ?

If you have to sing “a new song”, there must have been an “old song.” If you examine Exodus 15 :1, Moses is singing about what God has done for the people of Israel. He is singing about the greatness of God. It is history or the past. The “new song” must be about the new thing and the future. The future of Christianity is the second coming. If you are singing about the second coming, then you are singing a “new song” even if the song is composed by John Wesley. In contrary, if you are singing about the greatness of God and what he has done, then you are singing an old song even if it is composed by Planet Shakers.

To confuse new song with rock, pop, Jess, hip hop, heavy metal, voodoo kind of music and song is the work of Satan. Ephesians 5:19 “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.” The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines “spiritual” in the most simplest way “1. of, relating to, or affecting the human spirit as opposed to material or physical things.” You can refer to any dictionary or encyclopedia for the meaning of rock, pop, Jess, hip hop, heavy metal and voodoo. They are always related to material or physical things of the flash like drugs, alcohol, sex, cult and occult.

To label rock, pop, Jess, hip hop, heavy metal, voodoo or any other kind of music beats and rhythm of any culture as “new song” is incorrect because it only satisfy the need of your flash. This kind of worship will surely makes you clap your hand and tap your feet. Try clapping your hand and tapping your feet without the loud music or when you are singing a hymn. I am sure you can’t. By now you should realise that what makes you to clap your hand and tap your feet is the satanic rock, pop, Jess, hip hop, heavy metal, voodoo kind of music. This is the kind of music that causes the increase in drug addicts , alcoholics, rapist and occult practices in the community.

For those who don’t know, speaking in tongue is a phenomena where a person utter words that no one can understand. In the context of the Bible “tongue” means language. For an ordinary person, speaking in tongue simply means speaking in a different language. To understand the concept of speaking in tongue, one must read Act 2 : 1 – 12 very carefully. For our easy reference, we reproduced Act 2 : 1 – 12 from Biblegateway.com.

Acts 2 (New International Version) – The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them. 5Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7Utterly amazed, they asked: “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs-we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

When it happened ? Verse 1. On the day of Pentecost. Frankly speaking, I don’t know whether it can happen on Christmas or Easter day. What happened ? Verse 2. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of violent wind came from heaven Verse 2 tells us that, there was a divine intervention. A sound like blowing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then, there were tongues like fire and so on. The crowd were perplexed. According to verse 5, there were people from all over the world speaking different tongue (language). Verse 6 is very tricky, “one heard them speaking in his own language” meaning the speaker who is a Galilean (verse 7) speaks a language which a listener who may be an Asian could understand. The speaker did not know or understood what he spoke. After the incident, the speaker of that different tongue(language) will not have any knowledge of what he spoke. If an Asian were to respond the speaker in Siamese for example, the speaker who spoke Siamese while filled with the Spirit, will never be able to understand Siamese. That is why verse twelve says amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” At the end of the day, no one even the speaker knew what happened. Then, as you read further, Peter stood up and explained what happened. Read Act 2 : 14 – 21 click here

How many languages are there in the world? Stephen R. Anderson of the Linguistic Society of America cites the Ethnologue organization. According to Ethnologue there are currently 6,912 living languages, defined as languages that people speak today and I am sure that does not include the languages spoken by angels. I can now confidently tell that speaking in tongue should not be necessarily in the language that we are familiar with such as Spanish, Italian, Frenc and Chinese. It can be any of those 6,912 languages in the world!

It is interesting to note that speaking in tongue is a gift from God. Speaking in tongue would have been the best evangelical tool of all time. How can the people during the time of Jesus ignore such magnificent gift? The Bible have no records of Jesus or his disciples speaking in tongue to people when they go to one town to another. Jesus and his disciples knew that speaking in tongues can be self-induced and they don’t want to confuse people about it. Joseph Paul Goebbels says the “Big Lie” was simple –tell the biggest, most outrageous lie; tell it often enough; tell it loudly enough –and eventually people will believe it.

Knowing this fact, the Apostle Paul has got this to say 1 Corinthians 14 (New International Version) – Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues

1Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a] does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.[b] 3But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[c] but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues,[d] unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.

According to the Bible, anyone who speaks in tongue, speaks to God. If you are speaking to God, you can be filled by the spirit to speak any one of the 6,912 languages or the language of the angels. Now, I belief speaking in tongue do exist and to make make things transparent, I would like to conclude with verse 18 & 19 of 1 Corinthians 14 “thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19But in the Church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. Amen.

I recall how this story was taught in my Sunday School. The moral of the story is that Jesus appreciate humble givers like the widow in the passage below.

MARK 12 : 41 – 44

41Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins,[j]worth only a fraction of a penny.[k]

43Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Today as I read this passage, I wonder how the widow became poor. If you refer to the bible, there is no way for a widow to become poor. Why ?

Deuteronomy 24:20-22

20 When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the alien, the fatherless and the widow. 21 When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the alien, the fatherless and the widow.

Deuteronomy 26:12

When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.

Both the verses in Deuteronomy simply implies that the Lord is very serious about widow. He knew the trouble a widow have to go through. Our God is God of love. He specifically instruct the priest in the book of Deuteronomy to take care of the widows

You can note in Deuteronomy 24 that we are suppose to leave the remain of the harvest for the widow. The widow can eat or sell the remains to support her living. Deuteronomy 14 is even more serious. The tithing is actually for the widows.

Then, why is the widow in the book of Mark has only two very small copper coins for offering ? The answer is found in the same book of Mark in fact the same chapter 12

MARK 12 : 38 – 40

38As he taught, Jesus said, “Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the marketplaces, 39and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. 40They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely.”

The teachers of law (in today’s context the priest) devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. According to Dictionary.com, devour means

to swallow or eat up hungrily, voraciously, or ravenously.

to consume destructively, recklessly, or wantonly: Fire devoured the old museum.

to engulf or swallow up.

to take in greedily with the senses or intellect: to devour the works of Freud.

to absorb or engross wholly: a mind devoured by fears.

We know that widows normally leave alone. There is no man in the house. The teachers of the law (priest) take this opportunity to rob or as the bible puts it devour the widows. This is the reason the widow is poor and end up putting two very small copper coins in the offering box. There will be no poor people or widow in your town if the church practice what is taught in the book of Deuteronomy. How many percentage (%) of your church income (tithes) is spent on the alien, the fatherless and the widows ?

Gambling is defined by Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary as “to play or game for money or other stake; to hazard; wager.” Connected with gambling is the strong element of uncertainty, the large chance of losing. It has been popularly defined as “getting something for nothing without rendering service or exchange of goods, and is essentially stealing and a form of robbery”. It involves taking a risk in order to obtain something for nothing and often means losing what one has and obtaining nothing.

If that is the definition of gambling, investing in share market and buying insurance is also a form as gambling. There is strong element of uncertainty. The dividend that you earn from a share or insurance investment is also “getting something for nothing without rendering service or exchange of goods and is essentially stealing and a form of robbery. When rich person claims his or her “insured sum” of $1,000,000.00 for an unfortunate event, they are actually “robbing” the premium of another poor person who may be paying a small premium for ”insured sum” of $10,000.00

The Church authority will never agree with this mainly because the Church Pastors and staffs are very highly insured using the income from your tithes! The rich people in your Church invest in share market and the Church authority will never have the guts to question them because it will effect the Church income i.e tithing.

Morally speaking, I would say that gambling is wrong because firstly the chances and probability of you winning is very tittle. Secondly, the only way you have to increase the chances and probability of you winning is by buying more lottery tickets. The situation in “investing” in stock market and insurance is also the same. The more stock or policy you buy, the better is your return.

In insurance, the chances and probability of a insured person claiming due to accident, medical or death is marginally very small compared to the premium collected by the company. So, the insurance company plays the gambling game for you and pay your claims, bonuses, dividend and so on. Either you buy lottery or “invest” your hard earn money in stock market or insurance policies, there is a risk factor. There is strong element of uncertainty.

Matthew 6:26

26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 6:32-34

32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own

If you honestly belief in the verses above, you need not invest in insurance policies and stock markets to take care of your future. You don’t have to bet in the next lottery draw to get rich quick.

We are not asking to stop investing in stock market or insurance policies. We are trying to tell you that you cannot label investing in stock market and insurance policies as “holy” and betting in the lottery as “unholy” when all the three have the same mathematical principal governing them. It is the principal that matters not the type of investment you chose to label them as “holy” or “unholy”.

This proof that Christianity today is a form of Paganism designed by Satan. Since the Christian are the advocate of Paganism, they refused to accept the truth revealed by Dan Brown’s movie. If you have watched the movie, you will agree with me that some of Dan Brown’s claims are supported by historical and archaeological evidence. We can’t deny the fact that Christians have indeed done a good job as commanded by Jesus. They went around the world and spread the teaching of Christ. In the process, they converted millions from various religion to Christianity. This is the right thing to do as Jesus commanded. What I don’t agree is that Christians accepted most of the convert’s religious practices into Christianity.

One of the obvious aspect is the use of music instruments and rhythms. In Europe, rock, pop, jazz and even heavy metal type of music is used in Christian songs and Sunday Worship. On the other hand, in India, Africa and most part part of Asia, religious practices which originated from Hindu religion and evil Voodoo rituals are part of Christianity today. Music beats and rhythm that is composed for voodoo worship and Hindu devotional songs are absorbed into Christian worship songs. At times you will wondering is it Jesus who really want this songs or are worship team singing these songs for the pleasure of their flesh. Christian worship is in fact Christian Voodoo. check this out

All the cult practices are cunningly inserted in the so called order of worship and labelled as “Christ inside”. This is nothing new. As we see in Dan Brown’s movie, this mixing and labelling of every evil and cult practices as “Christianity” was started way back in the time of Constantine and it is going on until today. In this century, worship is the modern paganism for Christianity.
